To operate a motor vehicle safely, the driver must stay focused and attentive at all times. However, every year, thousands of people in Colorado and across the country are seriously injured or killed in car accidents caused by reckless or careless drivers. Unfortunately, it seems too many people these days are not as careful as they should be behind the wheel.
Details of a serious crash
Recently in Denver, a driver was cited after apparently causing a serious accident that injured two police officers as well as two other motorists. The crash happened during the afternoon near the 2100 block of South Sheridan Boulevard. According to reports, the driver of a northbound car was driving carelessly and attempted to change lanes. As the car changed lanes, it reportedly clipped another vehicle.
The clipped vehicle then spun out of control and into the oncoming lanes of traffic where it hit a marked Denver police car. The police cruiser then crashed into another vehicle before hitting a light pole. Authorities said two police officers and two motorists were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. The driver who caused the crash was cited for careless driving resulting in injury and for failure to produce proof of insurance, police said.
Help for victims
Although a crash can happen in the blink of an eye, victims can be impacted for years. Anyone who has suffered injuries or loss in a car accident caused by a negligent driver has the right to consult an experienced attorney about filing a claim. A successful lawsuit could result in monetary damages to help victims pay medical expenses and recover lost wages.
