Denver is the largest city in Colorado and is thriving these days. It seems more people are moving here for the natural beauty and plentiful economic opportunities. However, higher traffic volumes have been an unfortunate byproduct of this recent population growth. Naturally, more traffic will lead to more accidents. Data collected over the last five years in Denver shows where most accidents tend to happen.
A look at the numbers
The County and City of Denver has compiled data of all reported traffic accidents from the last five years and where these accidents happen the most. The data, which can be viewed on Google Maps, only includes accidents that had injuries, fatalities and pedestrian deaths that were reported to the Denver Police Department. A few patterns are quickly noticed when reviewing the map. The data shows that most fatal accidents happened on busy roadways in Denver like Colorado Boulevard, Federal Boulevard and Interstate 70.
Several deadly accidents are also shown around downtown and Coors Field. In downtown Denver, data shows that every bus stop has an accident injury close by. As for fatal pedestrian accidents, the statistics show that most occurred in the same spots. Most pedestrian deaths happened close to I-70 near traffic lights.
What to do in the aftermath
These days, it seems it’s not a question of if an accident will happen, but when. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one due to negligence car accidents have the right to speak with a lawyer about pursuing legal recourse. A successful claim could result in deserved and much-needed compensation.
