Operating a motor vehicle comes with great responsibility. Unfortunately, many drivers in Colorado take it for granted. With so many careless, distracted or intoxicated drivers, it is more important than ever to stay focused at all times behind the wheel. It is nearly impossible to predict the actions of other drivers or know when car accidents are going to happen.
T-bone accident
A Colorado Mesa University student and her boyfriend were hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit at an intersection. The accident happened in Grand Junction at the intersection of 15th Street and Orchard Avenue. The intersection is a four-way stop with flashing red lights at the stop signs. Apparently, the boyfriend was driving and attempted to make a legal left turn at the intersection.
According to accident reports, a car ran a stop sign at the intersection and T-boned the couple’s car, pushing them into another vehicle. Authorities said the couple suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a hospital. Reportedly, the female victim underwent emergency brain surgery to remove a subdural hematoma. Fortunately, both accident victims survived and are now in recovery. The accident remains under investigation.
Getting help in the aftermath
When a driver becomes distracted and loses focus for just a split second, a serious accident could result. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or losses in car accidents caused by negligent drivers can get help by contacting an experienced attorney. A successful lawsuit could result in victims and families being awarded appropriate compensation.
