It is impossible to know what will happen when someone gets into a vehicle and takes to the road. Most car accidents in Colorado happen without warning. It’s easy to feel vulnerable as a passenger, especially if the driver is speeding or otherwise operating the vehicle in a careless manner. Colorado Springs police recently apprehended a man who they say caused multiple car accidents and fled on foot.
Passenger seriously injured
Reports said authorities in Colorado Springs were first called to a multi-vehicle accident just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Drennan Road and South Academy Boulevard. Upon arrival, authorities said they found a passenger with serious injuries in a pickup truck. The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. According to police, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot.
Police say the driver likely caused several other crashes just north of the intersection. After those incidents, the pickup continued south on Academy Boulevard and, at the intersection, collided with a garbage truck that was headed west on Drennan Road. Reports said the driver was later located and arrested and now faces serious charges including vehicular assault.
Options for victims
Investigations may reveal that the pickup truck driver was at fault and negligently caused these accidents. Anyone in Colorado who suffers injuries due to the negligence of another party has the right to speak with an attorney about taking legal action against those deemed negligent. Damages from a successful claim could help victims pay medical expenses and recover lost wages.
