Every day, thousands of Colorado drivers get in their vehicles and take to the road without giving much thought to the many dangers they are likely to face. In fact, many drivers feel a sense of security and control as they travel on their daily commute. Yet, the actions of other drivers are completely unpredictable. Motorists who drive carelessly, distracted or impaired put everyone else at risk.
Fatal 3-vehicle accident
Recently in Aurora, a three-vehicle accident involving a dump truck claimed the life of a driver. The crash happened during the morning hours on 11th Avenue at Piccadilly Street. Apparently, a pickup truck was headed east on 11th Avenue when the driver tried to turn north on Piccadilly Street. According to reports, the pickup truck pulled into the path of a dump truck that was traveling south on Piccadilly Street, causing a collision.
Reports said the collision caused the dump truck to cross into the northbound lanes where it crashed into another vehicle. Authorities said the driver of the northbound vehicle was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Aurora police said the driver of the pickup truck was cited for a right-of-way violation after the incident.
Seeking legal assistance
Driving is a privilege that should never be taken for granted. Yet, it seems far too many people are careless behind the wheel these days. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or the tragic loss of a loved one in car accidents caused by negligent drivers have the right to seek legal recourse. By speaking with an experienced attorney and filing a claim, victims and families could obtain the maximum available financial relief.
