Due to their massive size, tractor-trailers have the potential of being the most dangerous vehicles on Colorado roadways. To legally operate one of these big rigs, extensive training and special licenses are required. Yet, no matter how skilled or credentialed a driver is, he or she can and will make mistakes. Tragically, when truck drivers are negligent or commit driving errors, they endanger the lives of all those around them.
Fatal hit-and-run accident
Recently in the small town of Mosca, a pedestrian was fatally struck in an apparent hit-and-run accident. The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Colorado Highway 17. According to reports from the Colorado State Patrol, a driver fled the scene after hitting and killing a pedestrian.
Authorities were initially unable to locate the suspect, but investigators found that the vehicle may have been a black semi-truck with a tanker trailer. Reports said the driver was located by police a few days later thanks to the information provided by members of the community. The truck driver will likely be facing very serious charges.
