Driving on the many interstate highways in Colorado can be rather intimidating. The speed limit on these roads is typically 60 mph or greater, so traffic on interstates typically moves faster than traffic on other roadways. Also, on-ramps and merging into heavy traffic can be daunting. Since traffic is moving faster, interstate car accidents are often serious or fatal.
Denver crash on I-70
Recently near Denver, a two-vehicle crash on a well-traveled interstate injured a motorist and killed another. The accident happened during the morning hours in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near mile marker 259. According to reports from the Colorado Highway Patrol, a sedan was traveling in the far-left westbound lane when the vehicle was struck from behind by a westbound SUV.
Tragically, authorities said a female passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Reportedly, the driver of the sedan was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured, reports indicated. All westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of I-70 were closed for nearly three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
Help for victims
Being injured in a car accident can be a nightmare. Victims often require expensive medical care and are typically unable to work while they recover. It’s easy to see how an unfortunate accident can leave victims struggling not only physically, but financially. Those in Colorado who have been injured in an accident can speak with an attorney about options for legal recourse. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in monetary damages to pay medical expenses, replace lost wages and cover other financial losses.
