Without a doubt, motorcycles can be fun to ride. They also have a reputation as being a very dangerous form of transportation. Motorcycles have a small profile, so they can be harder for other drivers to see. It seems so many motorcycle accidents happen simply because a driver wasn’t paying attention behind the wheel or just failed to see the motorcycle. Riders are completely exposed to the elements, so a motorcycle accident of any kind has a higher chance of being serious or fatal.
Deadly car versus motorcycle accident
Recently in Larimer County, an accident involving a car and a motorcycle ended the lives of two people. The accident happened on Wilson Avenue during the nighttime hours. According to accident reports, a sedan headed southbound on Wilson Avenue hit a motorcycle from behind. Reportedly, both vehicles ran off the road and came to rest in a field.
Tragically, authorities said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Reports said the driver and passenger in the sedan were both injured and taken to a hospital where the driver later died from her injuries. Police suspect that speed and alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
Legal help is available
One of the most painful and difficult things a person can experience in life is losing a loved one in an accident. There are options for legal recourse available for Colorado residents that may help to ease the pain and suffering that comes with losing a loved one in an accident. Surviving family members typically have the right to pursue damages through a wrongful death claim. If negligence is proved and the claim is successful, the resulting financial relief could be used for funeral expenses and other financial losses attributed to the fatal accident.
