These days, it can seem like just getting from point A to point B can be an adventure fraught with danger and risks. Colorado motorists never know what they may face when they get behind the wheel and venture out onto roadways. Unfortunately, the behavior of other drivers is completely unpredictable.
Details of the deadly incident
Recently in Aurora, an accident involving two vehicles left a driver dead. The accident happened just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of East Alameda Avenue and South Peoria Street. Police said the accident may have been caused by a blue sedan that was traveling north at a high rate of speed on South Peoria Street as it approached the intersection. According to reports, the vehicle ran the red light at the intersection and slammed into a Subaru sedan that was headed east on East Alameda Avenue.
Tragically, authorities said the driver of the Subaru was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver and passenger in the blue sedan both suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Aurora police said this was the 21st traffic fatality so far this year in the city.
Where can victims and families turn for help?
It goes without saying that no person wants to be involved in a wreck. Sometimes, victims of car accidents may have to undergo costly surgeries or other medical procedures. Also, surviving family members of those killed in car accidents often must deal with end-of-life expenses and endure traumatic emotional pain. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or loss due to negligence in car accidents can pursue recovery of monetary damages by contacting a skilled litigator and filing a lawsuit.
