Strike up a conversation with any avid motorcyclist and they will likely mention how enjoyable and freeing it is to ride a motorcycle. However, most are also aware that riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than riding in a passenger vehicle. Obviously, four wheels are more stable than two, and motorcyclists are also exposed and just not as protected as motorists. In many motorcycle accidents, riders are thrown from their bikes and suffer serious or fatal injuries.
Recent motorcycle versus vehicle accident
Recently in Colorado Springs, a motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a truck. The wreck happened during the afternoon hours on Woodmen Road near the intersection of Campus Drive. Reports said the motorcyclist was traveling west on Woodmen Road approaching the intersection. At the same time, a compact truck was headed in the opposite direction and attempted to turn on Campus Driver. Apparently, the driver of the truck pulled into the path of the motorcycle.
According to reports, the motorcyclist braked hard to avoid a collision but was thrown from his bike and was hit by the truck. Tragically, authorities said the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The roadway was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the accident.
Victims and families have options available
This crash may have happened because the driver of the truck failed to spot the approaching motorcycle. Unfortunately, this is the cause of many serious and fatal motorcycle accidents. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or the tragic loss of a loved one due to negligence in motorcycle accidents have options available to help them. By speaking with an experienced attorney and filing a lawsuit, victims and families could obtain rightful monetary damages.
