Safely operating a motor vehicle requires acute focus and should never be taken for granted. Yet, too many people in Colorado these days throw caution to the wind and get behind the wheel while intoxicated. It is common knowledge not to drive while under the influence of alcohol, but unfortunately, people still continue to do it. Since alcohol significantly inhibits motor skills and reaction time, drunk drivers are more likely to cause fatal car accidents.
A recent fatal crash in Pueblo killed two teens and seriously injured two other motorists. The accident happened during the overnight hours near the Fourth Street Bridge in Pueblo. According to reports, the driver of an eastbound vehicle drove through the median and into the westbound lanes. Reports said the eastbound vehicle crashed into a car that was headed west.
Tragic deaths and serious injuries
Reports said the two occupants of the westbound car were badly injured and required extensive medical treatment but were expected to survive. Reportedly, the two teenaged occupants of the eastbound vehicle were both killed in the crash. Police suspect that the driver of the eastbound vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Potential legal recourse for victims
Every year, thousands of people across the country are injured or killed in accidents caused by drunk drivers. Those in Colorado who have been injured or suffered the loss of a loved one in an accident caused by negligence can take legal action. By contacting an experienced attorney and filing a lawsuit, victims and families could obtain much-needed and deserved financial relief.
