Unfortunately, it only takes a split second for a car accident to turn life upside down for those involved. Recently, a three-vehicle accident ended the life of one person and left three others with injuries. The Boulder crash happened at approximately 11:20 p.m. on a recent Saturday along Highway 157 near Valmont Road.
3-vehicle accident
According to reports, the driver of a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling south in the northbound lanes on Highway 157. Reports said the pickup collided head on with a northbound Subaru traveling in the left lane. Another vehicle, a Honda Accord, was headed north in the right lane.
1 killed, 3 hurt
The force of the collision knocked the Subaru into the right lane where it was rear-ended by the Honda. Authorities said the Subaru driver was transported to Boulder Community Health with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, a passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed. Apparently, the Honda driver was also taken to a hospital with injuries. According to police, the wrong-way driver — a 17-year-old girl believed to have been impaired — suffered serious injuries.
It remains to be seen what criminal charges the teenage driver may face. Presumably, the authorities are waiting for the results of blood tests. Those who have been injured or have lost a loved one at the hands of a negligent driver have every right to consult with an attorney. A successful claim for monetary damages could provide victims and/or families with financial relief to help them move forward from such a devastating experience.
