It’s quite possible that every driver in the state of Colorado knows that driving under the influence of alcohol is hazardous and illegal. When alcohol is consumed, the individual’s reaction time slows considerably and driving skills quickly become impaired. Drunk driving is completely reckless and those who do it will ultimately be affected by destruction, legal troubles and even serious or fatal injuries.
Drunk driving crash
Recently in Colorado Springs, a suspected drunk driver caused a crash that injured another driver and closed an intersection. The crash happened at night at the intersection of Union Street and Uintah Boulevard. According to accident reports, a car that was heading north on Union slammed into another car that was turning left onto Uintah Boulevard. Police said that when they arrived on the scene, they found both vehicles were extensively damaged.
Injuries
Reportedly, one of the drivers became trapped and had to be freed by firefighters. Authorities believe the driver of the northbound car was under the influence of alcohol. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Reports said the intersection remained closed for the rest of the night while the crash was cleared and investigated.
Even though the vast majority of drivers are aware of the dangers of drinking and driving, drunk driving continues to be a very real and serious problem in Colorado. Those who suffer injuries or the tragic loss of a loved one at the hands of a drunk driver reserve the right to seek legal recourse. By speaking with an experienced attorney and filing a lawsuit, victims and families could be awarded much needed and deserved compensation.
