Tractor-trailers are considered by many to be the backbone of the U.S. economy. These massive trucks are usually the most efficient way to ship goods and merchandise across the country. Although Colorado motorists understand that sharing the road with tractor-trailers is just a part of driving, it can still be nerve-racking to drive near them. Truck accidents are more likely to be serious due to the sheer size of these behemoths.
Tractor-trailer crash
A recent accident near Denver involving a tractor-trailer caused injuries to motorists and shut down a major interstate. The crash happened during the morning hours along the westbound lanes of Interstate 76. According to reports, the driver of a tractor-trailer lost control of the truck and drove through the median of the interstate near Dahlia Street. Reportedly, the tractor-trailer hit at least two other vehicles.
Injuries
Authorities reported that some motorists were injured in the crash, but the extent of their injuries was still uncertain. Reports also said that fluid was leaking from the crashed tractor-trailer. Colorado State Police said that much of Interstate 76 between between I-25 and 88th Avenue was shut down.
Drivers in smaller passenger vehicles should always be respectful of tractor-trailers and maintain a safe distance. It can be very intimidating and dangerous traveling alongside tractor-trailers on the interstate. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or the loss of dear loved ones due to negligence in truck accidents have the right to contact a lawyer and take legal action. A successfully litigated lawsuit could provide substantial compensation to help victims and/or surviving families recover from a tragic accident.
