According to statistics, most car accidents in Colorado are minor and usually nothing more than inconveniences. Small, trivial impacts like fender benders usually won’t cause injuries to those in passenger vehicles. However, seemingly minor collisions can have life-altering implications when motorcycles are involved. Since motorcyclists are exposed and minimally protected, the odds for serious injury or death greatly increase in motorcycle accidents.
Police are seeking information about a recent hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle in Colorado Springs. The accident happened during the afternoon hours at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 31st Street. According to reports from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the driver of a sedan crashed into a motorcycle at the intersection then fled the scene of the accident.
Reportedly, the motorcyclist was knocked from his bike and suffered serious injuries. Authorities said they are still searching for the driver of the sedan and are asking the public to be on the lookout for a light green 2005 sedan with Colorado license plates and front-end damage. They are urging anyone with information to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department
As roadways become more crowded and dangerous, motorcycle riders need to remember to take precautions because the risk for a serious crash is always present. Riders should always wear protective gear such as helmets and practice defensive riding. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones due to negligence in motorcycle accidents could benefit by speaking with a knowledgeable attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could supply victims and families with much-needed financial relief.
