Driving is one of the most dangerous activities in the day-to-day lives of Colorado residents. As roadways become more crowded here, the question is not if a crash is going to happen, but when. Although certain precautions and safety measures can be taken to reduce the likelihood of an accident, many car accidents are completely unpredictable and unavoidable.
Recently, an accident in Golden involving two vehicles claimed the life of one person and hospitalized four others. The crash happened during the early morning hours at the intersection of Colfax Avenue and 6th Avenue. According to reports, the driver of a sedan was traveling east on 6th Avenue, approaching the intersection at a high rate of speed. Police in the area said they clocked the sedan at over 100 miles per hour and began pursuing the vehicle. Police said the sedan ran the red light at the intersection and slammed into an SUV.
Reportedly, the violent collision caused the SUV to burst into flames. The three occupants of the SUV were able to escape the flames and were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said two people in the sedan were also taken to a hospital with injuries, but one of them later died at the hospital.
Unfortunately, no one knows what they will experience when they get behind the wheel and take to the road. Those who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones in car accidents may want to consider contacting an experienced lawyer. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in a substantial monetary award to help victims and families recoup any financial losses that may have occurred due to a tragic accident.
