To safely operate a motor vehicle, the driver must remain focused and attentive at all times. As roadways across Colorado become more and more crowded, the odds for accidents increase dramatically, so losing focus for just a split second behind the wheel is enough to cause a traumatic accident. Tragically, car accidents remain one of the top causes of death and injury in the United States.
A driver is facing serious charges after a crash in Aurora that sent five people to the hospital with injuries. The accident happened during the overnight hours at the intersection of Dayton Street and East Colfax Avenue. According to police reports, a suspected drunk driver T-boned another vehicle at the intersection. The collision sent both vehicles crashing into a building on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Authorities said all five occupants of the T-boned vehicle suffered injuries and had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officers from the Aurora Police Department suspected the driver of the other vehicle to be impaired and placed him under arrest. Reportedly, he was charged with DUI and vehicular assault charges.
Driving is a privilege and a responsibility that should never be taken for granted. However, it is very easy for drivers these days to get distracted and lose focus behind the wheel. Those in Colorado who have suffered injuries or loss in car accidents caused by the negligence of another party could benefit by seeking the services of a seasoned personal injury attorney. Damages from a successfully litigated lawsuit could provide much-needed financial relief to help victims and families recover from this traumatic experience.
