Car accidents: 1 dead, 1 seriously hurt in Colorado

A bizarre two-car crash has claimed one life and sent another person to the hospital, according to law enforcement. The Colorado State Patrol believes the crash may have been due to drug and/or alcohol use. Car accidents caused by intoxication are sadly common, but those found guilty are prosecuted to the full extent of the law in Colorado criminal courts.

Car accidents: child killed in Colorado

Police suspect drugs and alcohol could have been contributing factors in a deadly crash that claimed the life of a child on Highway 50 the night of Feb. 14. Colorado State Patrol was called to the scene of the accident that killed a 6-year-old boy. One driver was arrested, but as with most car accidents where alcohol and drugs are potential factors, this investigation is still underway.

You might not link your silent brain injury to a car accident

It is not uncommon for a crash victim in Colorado to refuse a medical evaluation after a car accident because he or she sees no apparent injuries. However, many injuries are hidden at first, and when the damage becomes apparent, the victim might not link it to the car accident. For example, a penetration injury to the skull will automatically receive medical attention. At the same time, violent stopping and the impact of a collision could cause whiplash and an invisible brain injury that might not receive the careful medical evaluation and prompt treatment they require.
