Injured victims of car accidents may need legal recourse

Patricia M. Jarzobski

Traffic can be frustrating at times. The cars in front appear to only be inching forward and the drivers behind them are in a hurry to get to their destination. When this happens along a Colorado roadway, patience is often difficult to come by and car accidents can easily occur. Even when traffic appears to be moving slow, it is still important that all drivers pay attention and follow the rules of the road.

One driver recently appears to have become impatient with her circumstances. It appears that she decided to pass other vehicles on the shoulder of the road's right-hand side rather than wait until she was legally able to pass in the left-hand lane. In the process, she apparently lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a truck that was towing a camper trailer.

The driver who attempted to pass was thrown from her car and suffered injury. The driver and one child in the truck suffered serious injury while another adult and two children in the truck suffered moderate injury. This accident is still under investigation; the driver who attempted to pass is now facing vehicular assault, DUI and other related charges.

The fact that the driver allegedly at fault in one of the many car accidents that occur on a daily basis in Colorado will have to answer to the traffic-related charges will do nothing to help the family who has suffered as a result of her actions. In a situation such as this one, the family will likely face mounting medical bills and loss of income as the adults recover from their injuries. It may be in the family's best interest to pursue the matter in a court of law.
