Early morning car accident resulted in serous injuries

The dark, early morning hours are one of the least populated times on Colorado roadways. When the sun hasn’t yet come up and the morning rush hour hustle and bustle has not yet taken over, there is often a sense of peace and tranquility. According to police, an SUV was traveling on Highway 7 near East 160th Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The SUV hit a pickup truck head-on. That impact caused the pickup truck to then hit a van.

The intense impact from a head-on collision can have devastating consequences, and it did in this case. One person was ejected from one of the vehicles, although it has not been disclosed yet which vehicle that person was in. Another person was trapped inside the van, and it took police almost a half hour to extricate that person from the vehicle. One occupant from the van and one from the SUV were injured and taken to a hospital. One was reported to have serious injuries, and the other was in critical condition.

No information was initially released regarding the identities of the occupants of the vehicles. Police also have not released a potential reason for the SUV crossing into oncoming traffic.
