Every time someone gets in a car there is always the possibility of the trip ending with an accident. Car accidents are extremely common, but cars are a necessity, so it is a risk most everyone has come to terms with. What no one is prepared for is being involved in a car accident while not even being in a car. That is exactly what happened to one woman who was at home this week when a car driven by a naked man crashed into her Denver apartment.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, a 59-year-old woman was at home when a sedan came crashing through her apartment walls. As if that wasn’t shocking enough, a second surprise was revealed when the man stepped out of his vehicle. He was completely naked.
The woman and driver both suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Several apartments in the building were damaged. Until the structure can be stabilized, the residents of those units are being housed elsewhere. It is not yet known when they will be allowed back into their homes. Several residents say they hope to be able to be home for Christmas.
The driver of the car, a 32 year-old-man, was reportedly seen running through the parking lot completely naked and acting erratically before getting into the car and crashing it into the apartment building. His abnormal actions reportedly continued after the crash. Impairment is suspected as the reason for the man’s behavior and the cause of the accident.
For the residents of this Denver apartment building, this will be a Christmas they will never forget. Although the woman injured in the crash was not in a vehicle at the time of her injuries, she can still file a personal injury claim against the driver much like she would if she had been in a more typical car accident. A knowledgeable attorney can be a valuable resource for anyone seeking legal recourse under similar circumstances.
