Car accidents: Colorado crash kills woman

On Behalf of | Feb 15, 2018 | Car Accidents

A woman is dead following a pedestrian-related accident in Louisville, according to local news. The woman’s identity has not been released, pending an ongoing investigation by Colorado authorities. As with most fatal car accidents, this investigation will directly affect any charges that may be filed against the driver involved.

According to the accident report provided by police, around 6:50 a.m. the morning of Feb. 5, the unidentified 59-year-old woman was crossing a street headed eastbound. It is unclear from the report whether she was crossing in a crosswalk. She was struck by a northbound vehicle and suffered serious injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

No information has been released at this time regarding the condition of the driver involved. However, police have confirmed they do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident. They have asked for the support of anyone who may have information regarding the accident. Witnesses are asked to contact police or Northern Colorado Crimestoppers.

Car accidents of this type do not always come with criminal charges against a driver or drivers involved, but whether this will be the case here remains to be seen. Colorado authorities will determine the cause of the accident, and if the driver is found to be at fault, that individual could face charges. As long as evidence exists of material contribution to the accident, the family of the deceased woman is entitled to file a wrongful death suit against the driver in civil court.
