A serious crash in Arapahoe County has sent six people to local hospitals, according to news sources. Colorado authorities were called to the scene of the crash, which is still under investigation at this time. As with most car accidents of this type, it is still possible that criminal charges could be filed against one or more drivers in this case.
Very little information is available about the accident at this time. This includes exactly how many vehicles were involved in the pileup. It has been confirmed by South Metro Fire Rescue, that were on the scene along with the police, that the accident happened in an intersection around 9 a.m. the morning of Valentine’s Day.
A total of six people were taken to area hospitals. At least two of those individuals were in critical condition, and three more were listed as being in serious condition. The sixth person escaped with only minor injuries, as did five people who stopped to render assistance to the victims of the crash. Police closed down northbound lanes to facilitate their investigation, and so far, they have not determined a cause for the accident.
Car accidents wherein multiple parties are injured are often the subject of considerable scrutiny by law enforcement, in order to ensure the driver or drivers responsible for the accident face criminal justice. This depends on whether it can be proven their conduct behind the wheel violated criminal statutes. Even if police do not file formal charges, Colorado law will allow the injured parties to file personal injury lawsuits against the driver or drivers believed to be responsible.
