Judging by news reports in the past year, the number of vehicle crashes seems to be on the rise. Many car accidents happen because of driver negligence, whether from substance impairment, some type of distraction or from being in too big a hurry. One recent Colorado accident resulted in the deaths of three people.
Reported to be in their 70s, a couple were headed north in their Honda mini-van when a Jeep collided with them as they went through an intersection. There was no mention of a stop sign or traffic light being ignored as the reason for the crash. The report did state the eastbound lanes narrow from two lanes to one at the point of the incident.
An unbuckled passenger in the Jeep and the wife in the van died at the scene of the crash. The husband died after his arrival at a nearby hospital. The driver of the Jeep was seriously wounded and was admitted into the hospital for ongoing treatment of his injuries. The report did not indicate what, if any, charges were pending.
The families of those who were killed in the crash have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the Jeep if it is found his negligence caused the collision. If their lawsuit is successful, financial compensation can be awarded to help cover expenses. Time constraints dictate how long the victims have to file this type of lawsuit. Colorado residents who suffer as victims of car accidents and would like to pursue a claim should speak to an attorney who will be able to act in their behalf.
