Many circumstances can cause car accidents. When one or more drivers are impaired by an illegal substance, are not completely focused on the road or have a medical condition that may flare up at the worst times, car accidents are inevitable. Colorado State Patrol troopers are continuing the investigation of a recent accident involving a fatality.
The official report on the incident stated the driver of a white pickup truck heading west on I-70 crossed the median and hit four vehicles in the eastbound lanes. A news helicopter flying over the scene reported the vehicles scattered across the interstate lanes. There was significant destruction to several vehicles and minimal damage to two others.
Emergency responders found one driver dead when they arrived at the scene, but her passenger — a young boy — only had minor injuries. Six people from the various vehicles were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Traffic was backed up for several hours as investigators tried to determine if the crash was a malicious act by the truck driver, if something with the vehicle malfunctioned or if he had a physical emergency.
Should the investigators conclude that the accident was a result of the truck driver’s negligence, he may find himself the defendant in a wrongful death an/or several personal injury lawsuits.
