Everyone has had to suffer the consequences of wrong choices, some worse than others. Many car accidents happen because of poor choices made before and/or while a driver is behind the wheel. One of the most recent car accidents being investigated by Colorado State Patrol troopers resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man.
A report by the CSP said the mid-afternoon crash happened when the driver of an SUV was passing several cars as he was approaching the top of a hill, which was an indicated no-passing zone. He collided head-on with a second SUV, causing both vehicles to leave the road. Responding emergency personnel found the passenger of the second SUV dead at the scene and transported the driver to a medical facility over two hours away for treatment.
The driver of the first vehicle was also seriously injured and was airlifted first to a nearby hospital. He was later transferred to a medical center better able to treat his injuries. Troopers have not charged the 35-year-old driver as of yet but may alter their decision pending the outcome of their investigation.
Negligence that results in car accidents often leads to personal injury or wrongful death litigation. When there is a fatality, surviving family members may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit where a financial award may be enough to cover any medical bills as well as funeral and burial costs. An award in a successful personal injury lawsuit can be used to pay hospital and rehabilitation costs as well as expenses incurred during any length of time away from work. Any questions a victim or surviving family member of a deceased victim may have can be answered by an attorney who is thoroughly familiar with the applicable laws in Colorado.
