When people are driving on the road, a number of things can happen. They can arrive at their destination as intended, they may have some sort of car trouble, or they can be involved in one of the many car accidents that take place every day. These car accidents may be as a result of the weather, from an animal in the road or even because of someone else. Two young Colorado residents were recently involved in a late-night accident on a state highway.
A report from the Colorado State Patrol stated that a 21-year-old male student attending Colorado State University was lying on the highway in front of a restaurant. A teenage male driver -- who was headed east in an SUV -- hit the student and dragged him along the road until he was able to stop his vehicle. Emergency responders took the student to a nearby hospital where his condition was listed as critical.
Although the investigation is ongoing, troopers have reason to believe there was alcohol involved on the part of the student. There was no information given as to the condition of the driver. No charges have been filed at this time.
Driving can be hazardous, and it is important that all drivers be alert, especially after nightfall. Car accidents can happen to even the most vigilant drivers. In the midst of all the turmoil following an accident, it may be difficult to form a plan of action. Finding an attorney who has a thorough knowledge of the personal injury laws specific to Colorado is the first step in gaining some peace of mind.
