Car accidents do not have to be major collisions to cause major damage. The car accidents that are considered to be “fender benders” can cause just as much harm as those that cause gridlocks on the interstate. A 2-year-old Colorado girl was killed in what would usually be considered a minor accident.
Police say the early-evening accident happened in a local parking lot. The 44-year-old driver crashed her sedan into a Honda CR-V that was parked in a parking spot. There was no explanation given by police as to the driver’s justification for the accident, but they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors. The woman has been fully cooperative with police in their investigation.
The little girl was in close proximity to the struck vehicle and may have been hit by one of the two vehicles. Local firefighters responded to the scene and took the girl to the nearest hospital, but doctors there were not able to resuscitate her. The driver has been arrested and charged with careless driving, causing death.
At some time in the near future, the parents of this little girl may wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the sedan. Should they choose to take legal action, there are time constraints to which they must adhere and certain steps they must take. Those who have lost loved ones in car accidents and who would like to pursue financial compensation for a personal injury or wrongful death claim will want to find a Colorado attorney who has experience in fighting for the rights of their clients.
