With so many cars on the road today, it is very rare to find a driver who has not been affected somehow by an accident. The damages from car accidents may have far-reaching effects for all involved. One of the most recent car accidents in Colorado Springs resulted in injuries to several people and led to a hunt for a driver who had fled the scene.
Police reports indicate the 2:30 a.m. accident happened when the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into a Volkswagen that was driving through the intersection. Although the specific speed of the truck was not revealed, authorities believe it was going faster than the posted limit. The collision between the two vehicles propelled the Volkswagen into the path of a Hyundai, which also hit the Volkswagen.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the truck had run away. They also found seven injured people, with two of those having to be extricated from the Volkswagen. All seven were transported to a nearby hospital where they treated; five of them were released, but two others remained because of the nature of their injuries. A local news station obtained a video of the scene, which showed a barely-recognizable Volkswagen. The driver of the pickup truck was apprehended nearly 11 hours later and charged with multiple offenses, including leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular assault.
The injured parties in car accidents usually have numerous details with which to deal. Insurance claims, medical bills, the purchasing or renting of another vehicle all seem to consume someone in addition to his or her typical everyday problems. Peace of mind may often come through filing a personal injury lawsuit to reclaim the financial losses if there is a monetary award. Colorado residents going through this type of ordeal may benefit from the assistance of an experienced injury attorney.
