Truck accidents happen anytime, anywhere

On Behalf of | Dec 28, 2016 | Truck Accidents

All drivers must beware when they are on the road. Distractions inside the car — such as cell phones, children or radios — can draw needed attention from all that is going on around them. Car and truck accidents can and do happen when drivers are not fully aware of their surroundings. One of Colorado’s most recent truck accidents happened on a state highway, causing damage to several vehicles and injury to three people.

A report stated the truck driver ran a red light and crashed into a pickup truck that was attempting to make a left turn onto the highway. The semi-truck landed on its side after impact, throwing some of its load of drywall onto the pickup. The collision pushed the pickup into an oncoming SUV, which was rammed into a second pickup stopped in the left turn lane.

The driver of the pickup was pinned inside the cab of his truck. It took several heavy equipment machines to free him, along with 15 emergency responders. Miraculously, he and his five-year-old daughter were not seriously injured, but hey were transported to a nearby medical facility and said to be listed in stable condition. There was a passenger in the semi who also sustained minor injuries. At the time of the report, no tickets had been issued to the driver of the semi.

Because of the negligence of the semi-truck driver, the driver of the pickup truck may choose to file a personal injury lawsuit against him. Any award from the suit would most likely help in paying current and future medical bills related to the accident, as well as to cover any wages the father may have lost if he had to miss any work during this ordeal. Similar truck accidents that have caused injury to Colorado residents have resulted in the injured seeking legal assistance from a professional who has helped them get the compensation they deserved.
