Most motorcycle riders follow the rules of the road and trust whenever they are riding that other drivers do as well. No matter how careful a biker may be, however, motorcycle accidents do happen. Colorado Springs police are continuing their investigation into one of the motorcycle accidents that occurred on a recent afternoon.
The report from the police department stated a 32-year-old female driver traveling east ran a red light at an intersection. Her vehicle hit an SUV that had proceeded through the intersection upon the light changing green. A motorcycle behind the SUV swerved to avoid a second accident, but the biker lost control of his motorcycle and crashed anyway.
The woman kept going after she hit the SUV but was stopped down the road by someone who had witnessed the crash. She was arrested after police arrived and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular assault. The biker was seriously injured but is expected to fully recover. There was no mention in the report about the condition of the occupant of the SUV.
While this accident did not result in any fatalities, some motorcycle accidents do. When a biker is injured, he or she will most likely choose to seek financial compensation to pay for expenses above those covered by insurance companies. Often, legal assistance is needed when a victim of negligence is fighting for deserved compensation. Those in Colorado who have been injured will want a knowledgeable professional who can guide them through the process of obtaining a satisfactory financial settlement.
