According to the police report, the man was traveling south and approaching an intersection when a woman driving a sedan pulled into the intersection in front of him. The man hit the side of the sedan and flew off his bike. He was wearing a helmet with a face shield but his injuries were serious enough that emergency rescue personnel transported him to a nearby hospital. His condition was still listed as serious the following day.
The sedan driver was also taken to the hospital, though her injuries were minor. The three young passengers with her were not injured. Police do not suspect phone usage or impairment from drugs or alcohol to have been a factor in the accident. No specific charges were mentioned, but they are said to be pending and will likely follow completion of the official investigation.
