Truck accidents that result in fatalities happen much too often. Sometimes they are the fault of the truck drivers, sometimes they result from weather conditions, and sometimes they are caused by the vehicles with which the trucks collided. The size and weight of large trucks mean the damage in truck accidents can be horrific. A recent truck accident in Colorado Springs resulted in a fatality.
According to a report on the accident, a 26-year-old woman driving a sedan crashed into a delivery truck as the truck was making a left turn. Both drivers were injured and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The female driver died after arriving at the hospital. The condition of the truck's driver was not released.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol on the part of either driver were factors in the accident. After their investigation, they concluded the FedEx driver was at fault. They did issue citations to the truck driver for a stop-sign violation, as well as careless driving.
While it is not yet known what course of action this young woman's family will take in the future, similar truck accidents have led to lawsuits filed by the decedents' families. The suits pursue financial compensation amounts based on their expenditures, such as medical bills, funeral and burial costs, and loss of future earning potential. Colorado families who have endured such overwhelming losses may need the services of compassionate attorneys who will work to obtain amounts that will help ease the burdens the financial pressures create.
