No matter how careful people while they are on the road, car accidents will happen. Car accidents frequently result in serious injury and in some cases, death. A Colorado woman was killed in a recent two-vehicle crash.
The official statement from the Colorado State Patrol office said the young woman was in her pickup truck headed east on a U.S. highway. A man, also driving a pickup truck, was traveling toward her when the two vehicles collided. There were three lanes at that section of highway, two of them for eastbound traffic, and it is thought the man was possibly trying to pass a vehicle ahead of him at the time of the collision.
The woman was declared dead after emergency personnel arrived at the scene. The man required air transportation to a medical center and was said to have sustained serious injuries. At the time of the accident the weather was not inclement and both drivers had their seat belts fastened. Also, there seems to be no indication of substance abuse on the part of either driver. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
When car accidents caused by negligence result in death, the surviving family members may want to file a lawsuit seeking financial reimbursement for subsequent costs. The amount requested is usually determined by calculating the approximate expenses for the funeral and burial, placing a dollar amount to emotional pain and suffering resulting from the loss, and determining the future earning potential of the person who died. Those in Colorado who have lost a loved one from a similar accident may want to speak to a professional who will inform them of their legal options.
