Truck accidents with such large vehicles as 18-wheeled semis can be harrowing experiences. Those types of truck accidents can result in major damage to other vehicles and to people. Troopers with the Colorado State Patrol reported a recent accident involving one of those semis and a pickup truck.
The mid-afternoon crash happened at an intersection on a state highway. The vehicles were traveling toward each other on the highway when the pickup truck made a left-hand turn in front of the semi. The semi could not stop and collided with the pickup, crushing the passenger side.
The driver of the semi was thrown from the truck’s cab, as his seat belt was not fastened at the time. Responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The female driver in the pickup truck was secured and only suffered moderate injuries. She was admitted into a local hospital for treatment but there was no indication as to her release. Authorities are still investigating the events of the crash but do not think speed or any type of substance impairment contributed to the cause of the accident.
Until the investigation into this accident is concluded, it might be difficult for the family of the semi truck driver to take legal action when pursuing any type of financial compensation. They may have to wait to see if negligence on the part of the pickup truck driver or some type of mechanical failure caused the accident. They will most likely want someone with a working knowledge of the laws pertaining to truck accidents in Colorado to advise them as to how to proceed.
