Motorcycle accidents frequently occur because drivers of other vehicles are negligent and careless when they are on the road. Drivers may pull out in front of motorcycles or they may follow the motorcycles too closely in traffic, causing a collision. Motorcycle accidents can often result in severe injury or even death to the rider. One rider was killed in an accident at a Colorado Springs intersection.
The mid-afternoon accident occurred as the motorcycle was going through an intersection. An SUV was also at the intersection and attempting to make a left turn. The SUV turned in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to crash into the SUV.
Both drivers were injured and transported to an area medical facility. The motorcycle rider died once reaching the hospital. The driver of the SUV will survive his injuries but is facing charges of careless driving resulting in death. Police did not release several details regarding the crash, and it is not known if the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet or if drug or alcohol use was a consideration on the part of either driver.
Victims of motorcycle accidents caused by negligence or their families may want to consider filing lawsuits to pursue compensation. Any monies awarded can be used to pay medical bills, funeral and burial costs, and a host of other related expenses. Finding a knowledgeable professional to help interpret the complex laws in Colorado could help victims be more successful in their pursuit of winning damages to which they are entitled.
