Lawsuits can be filed for car accidents resulting in death

On Behalf of | Nov 13, 2015 | Car Accidents

Colorado residents who have been involved in car accidents may face long-lasting challenges. Minor accidents may leave victims anxious about getting behind the wheel or even riding as passengers in the future. Major car accidents may result in permanent serious injuries or even death, and both can cause emotional pain and financial hardship.

A man driving a pickup truck was killed in a recent early morning incident. He was headed west on a state highway when another driver ran a stop sign and crashed into him. The SUV the woman was driving collided with the driver’s side of the truck, causing the truck to roll and then run into a building. The man was wearing his seat belt, but he died before responding emergency personnel could get him to a medical facility.

The woman was also wearing her seat belt, but she was seriously injured. The passenger in the car with her sustained moderate injuries as well, and both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not released in a report on the incident. Law enforcement officials say the woman may be facing charges in the accident.

When car accidents are caused by negligence, the victims of the accidents have the right to file lawsuits. The financial compensation awarded when lawsuits are presented successfully can be used for medical expenses, continuing rehabilitation or funeral costs, depending on the severity of the damage caused by the accidents. Colorado residents who have experienced the effects of such accidents may want to seek the services of professionals who will work to get justice for their suffering.
