Car accidents happen frequently, and the results of some sadly end in fatalities. One of these types of car accidents occurred on a recent afternoon on a Colorado Springs road. Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
An officer reported that a pickup truck hit a sedan and then fled the area. There were eye witness reports that claim the driver of the truck drove through a red light. The report was not clear if it was before hitting the sedan or when fleeing the scene. The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries. Her passenger, however, did not survive the crash.
Police found the driver of the truck walking around in a confused state not far from the scene of the accident. His seriously damaged truck was located in a nearby school parking lot. He is facing several charges, including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
Should this man be found guilty of the charges against him, not only could he be facing time in prison, but the surviving woman and the family of her passenger may wish to pursue financial compensation from him. The money received could cover the costs so many of these families face in the aftermath of such an accident, including medical bills, burial costs, wages missed during the recovery period and future projected wages that the deceased woman will never be able to provide for her family. Colorado residents who have been affected by one of these types of car accidents may want advice as to whether or not their case would benefit by similar litigation.
