Irresponsibility accounts for many of the car accidents seen on Colorado roads today. Whether it is caused by drugs, alcohol, or even from a lack of sleep, there are times some people just should not get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. These types of car accidents can cause much devastation, not only to the victims but also to their friends and families.
According to police, the driver of a pickup truck was speeding when it went off the road and into a drainage ditch in between the lanes. After hitting the ditch, the truck flew in the air and into the lane of oncoming traffic. The airborne truck then crashed into an oncoming SUV.
The driver was the only person in the SUV, but there were five people in the truck. Four passengers were in the truck bed and were all thrown from the vehicle. Everyone involved was injured, some more seriously than others. They were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Police suspect alcohol and drug use may have been involved, and an investigation is ongoing.
Those suffering serious injuries in car accidents are typically entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit against the party or parties deemed to have been at fault. A successfully presented claim may result in a judgment for monetary damages, which can be used to cover multiple costs generated by the accident. Colorado residents negatively affected by the negligence of another party have the right to retain counsel to advocate for them in pursing financial relief through the civil court system.
