Motor vehicle crashes may have a larger impact than just the damage done to the vehicles involved. Unfortunately, many car accidents cause serious injury or even death. One of the most recent car accidents on the streets of Colorado Springs resulted in injuries to four people.
Authorities say a 20-year-old male ran a red light and hit a Jeep Wrangler going through the intersection. The woman driving the Wrangler was thrown out of the vehicle and was badly injured. A report did not state whether she was wearing a seat belt. The passenger with her was injured as well, and they were both taken to a nearby hospital. There has been no update on the condition of either person.
The young man and the passenger with him were also taken to a hospital to be treated. When he was released, police arrested him after concluding he had been drinking. He was charged with DUI, vehicular assault and other offenses.
In car accidents similar to this one, a serious injury or death may lead to a lawsuit against the party or parties deemed responsible. It will be necessary to prove that the party sued was negligent in a manner that caused or contributed to the accident, but it is not necessary to prove that party acted intentionally.
