With a motorcycle being a smaller vehicle, it can easily get lost in the blind spot of a sedan or truck when out on the road. Because of this, motorcycle accidents happen much too often when those on two wheels are not seen by other motorists who may not be as vigilant as they could be. A 60-year-old Colorado man was recently killed in one of those motorcycle accidents.
A report stated the mid-afternoon wreck happened when the man on his motorcycle was heading west as a pickup truck coming toward him made a left turn in front of him. State Patrol and other emergency responders reached the scene and transported the man to a nearby medical center. He died two hours after his arrival.
The coroner has not yet received the toxicology report on the man but identified the cause of death as blunt force injuries to the head. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Police have ruled the death as an accident and did not make an arrest nor did they issue any citations to the driver of the truck.
There are many variables to be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not the family of this man can file a lawsuit for wrongful death. They may want to have someone conduct a more thorough investigation to determine if the truck driver was at fault before proceeding. In Colorado, those injured or the families of those killed in motorcycle accidents may need an advocate as they seek to file a claim for damages suffered.
