Speeding suspected after car accident kills 1 and injures 3

On Behalf of | Dec 27, 2014 | Car Accidents

Posted speed limits are enforced to protect the safety of everyone sharing the road. A Colorado driver who chooses to disobey the law or is not paying attention and is driving more quickly than conditions dictate has a higher likelihood of causing a car accident. An irresponsible driver can cause innocent victims to become seriously injured or possibly even die.

A recent evening crash caused a part of the a local Avenue in Aurora to be shut down for several hours while the incident was being investigated. According to authorities, a car was headed east when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car apparently went over the curb and then ultimately crashed into a tree.

The driver died at the accident site. Three passengers were all transported to a nearby medical facility. The most recent report indicates that all of the victims will survive. Reportedly, neither the driver nor any of the passengers were wearing their seat belts.

Colorado police believe that the driver was speeding, but until an investigation is completed, it is not yet decided if alcohol or drugs were factors in the car accident. Likely, the surviving victims will be focusing their energies on healing and making  full recoveries. They each may choose to pursue legal action against the estate of the deceased driver. A properly presented claim may result in a monetary judgment  as compensation for incurred medical bills as well as any other related financial losses. It will first be necessary to establish by appropriate evidence that the driver negligently caused the collision which resulted in the injuries suffered.
