Each day, most parents send their children to school, an act which requires some of the children to cross the street. Most children are taught how to cross safely and return home unharmed, but others are not so lucky. In one such case, two Colorado middle school students were injured in a car accident while crossing a street.
On a recently early morning, two young boys were attempting to cross the street. The spot where the children were walking was distinctly designated as a pedestrian crossing. A driver headed east allegedly did not notice the children and crashed into them while they were walking.
The children began to yell for help and a neighbor reportedly came to their aid. Both were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, but, luckily, the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. As of the latest report, the boys were stable, but the details of their conditions were not disclosed. Authorities are still investigating the car accident and have taken the driver in for questioning. Colorado police are hoping that other witnesses may come forward with more details on the event.
The boys are likely focusing on completing a full recovery after the car accident, while their parents may be trying to find a way to pursue justice for their children. The parents of the injured children may choose to file personal injury claims on behalf of their children. In a successful case, the court may award compensation for the related financial losses, such as medical expenses, along with compensation for pain and suffering.
