A fatal car accident claims the lives of 2 and injures 2 others

On Behalf of | Dec 8, 2014 | Wrongful Death

At all times, drivers must be ready to think on their feet. Having a quick reaction time allows a Colorado resident the ability to be prepared for whatever may come at him or her while driving. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. The inability to maintain control of one’s vehicle, even for a moment, can lead to serious injuries or a fatal car accident.

A collision on Interstate 25 had northbound traffic closed for approximately four hours following a recent accident. According to authorities, an SUV was headed south on Interstate 25 when it unexpectedly began veering to the left. The vehicle then spun counterclockwise and rolled over the median and a cable rail. This caused the vehicle to stop in the northbound lane. Luckily, the SUV did not hit any other cars, but debris from the wreck reportedly struck a truck that was in close proximity.

The driver died at the crash site. One of the three passengers was thrown from the vehicle onto the median and also died at the scene. The other two passengers also suffered moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital. As of the latest report, one of the victims is still in fair condition.

According to a Colorado State Trooper, it is not yet known what caused the vehicle to suddenly turn to the left. An investigation is underway in hopes of gathering more information about the cause of the fatal car accident. Once the investigation is concluded, if the evidence dictates that the driver’s negligence caused the accident, the victims injured in the crash may elect to file personal injury claims against the driver’s estate in hopes of being compensated for the losses they suffered. In addition, the families of the deceased victims may also choose to file wrongful death claims against the driver’s estate.
