In order for a driver to make the best decisions possible, he or she should have a clear head. This includes being focused, free from distractions and not being under the effects of drugs or alcohol. Each year, many drivers make the decision to drink and drive with little regard to those whom they could hurt. Once the damage is done, the innocent victims are left to live with the aftermath of the car accident and the pain of the driver’s irresponsible decision.
During a recent afternoon, an intersection near Colorado Springs was shut down for three hours following a multi-vehicle crash. A driver was reportedly approaching an intersection and failed to stop at a red light. This apparently caused two oncoming vehicles that were going through the intersection to crash into his vehicle. According to local authorities, there was a total of four vehicles that sustained damage in the crash, but no details were provided as to how the fourth vehicle became involved.
Police stated that one of the vehicles that was part of the accident was reported to have been stolen. Three individuals were injured in the crash. One of them reportedly suffered serious injuries. The driver who was allegedly the catalyst for the accident was arrested and charged with vehicular assault and driving under the influence of narcotics.
The Colorado victims are now most likely focusing their energies on healing. They each have the individual right to initiate a personal injury claim against the suspected drunk driver. If the initial indications as to the cause of this car accident are proved to be accurate, each injured victim may be entitled to an award of monetary damages for financial losses, including any pain and suffering related to the injuries suffered.
