With all of the hectic situations in people’s lives, it can be difficult to find the time to get an adequate amount of rest. After a long shift at work or a day of doing errands, a Colorado driver may begin to start feeling sleepy. Understandably, a driver should not get behind the wheel if he or she is too tired because of the risk of falling asleep. If one’s eyes start getting too heavy, he or she should pull over to side of the road to prevent any possibility of having a fatal car accident.
Interstate 25 was shut down for several hours following a recent early morning accident. A man driving north reportedly began to drift off the right-hand side of the road. He attempted to maneuver his vehicle back onto the road, but he apparently overcorrected and ended up rolling it instead.
A passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of the accident. He did not have on his seat belt. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
According to Colorado authorities, being under the influence and drug usage are not considered causal factors in the fatal car accident. Police suspect that the man fell asleep while he was driving. While nothing can be done to change what has already transpired, the grieving family may find a sense of solace by successfully pursuing a wrongful death claim against the driver. If the driver is found negligent by appropriately submitted evidence in civil court, the family members may be awarded a monetary judgment to help alleviate the burden of expenses related to this tragedy.
