Tragic car accident takes the lives of 2 young adults

Patricia M. Jarzobski

Police enforce laws on speed in an attempt to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Colorado drivers who are inclined to go over the speed limit are at a much higher risk of being involved in a car accident. Going over the speed limit can result in an accident that causes injuries or even death.

Recently, during the very early morning in Pueblo County, a driver was eastbound on Highway 47 and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle overturned several times. Police say that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

Reportedly, the impact from the crash caused the two occupants to be ejected from the vehicle. One of the individuals was a 19-year-old woman and the other a 22-year-old man. Tragically, both of the young adults passed away at the scene of the accident. It was not immediately clear who was actually driving the car.

The Colorado police were able to deduce from reports by witnesses that speeding may have been a causal factor in the car accident. It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors that may have contributed to the crash. Surviving family members of the deceased passenger may elect to assess their right to file a wrongful death claim against the driver and any separate owner of the vehicle involved in the accident. If liability established in civil court by a preponderance of the evidence, the surviving family may be awarded a monetary judgment to help with the burden from end-of-life and medical expenses that are associated with this type of tragedy.
