Unfortunate accidents happen every day across the United States. Even if they are obeying all safety precautions, motorcycle riders can be especially susceptible to accidents that are caused by a reckless or negligent driver. A Colorado driver who is not paying attention can easily miss a cyclist, causing a motorcycle accident that can inflict injuries to even the most cautious rider.
During a recent morning, a sedan and a motorcycle were traveling on the highway. According to a local police chief, the sedan struck the motorcycle, which caused the rider to be thrown from his bike and onto the road. The cyclist was carrying a handgun with him. Due to the impact, the gun fired and shot the rider in the chest.
The cyclist was rushed in an ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. He reportedly suffered serious injuries from the accident. The operator of the sedan abandoned the scene, according to police. The sedan was later found at a nearby campground. Hours after the accident, police found and arrested the male hit-and-run driver.
Once the rider recovers from the motorcycle accident, he may elect to file a personal injury claim against the person deemed responsible, in this case, the driver of the sedan. If irrefutable evidence proves that the accused Colorado driver was acting in a reckless and/or negligent manner, the court may award financial damages to the victim. He may receive financial compensation to assist with his medical bills, as well as any other remedies deemed by the court.
