Even if the person driving is being careful, it can be the other people on the road that a driver needs to worry about. If an operator is impaired in any way, there is a good chance that they can cause a car accident. Making the decision to get onto a Colorado road while under the influence could lead to the serious injury or even death of other people on the road.
Police reported that on March 24, shortly after midnight, an SUV was traveling north when it ran a red light. Allegedly, the SUV was traveling at such a high rate of speed that it smashed into another vehicle with little warning. The teenage driver of the other vehicle unfortunately passed away at the scene.
According to a video accompanying the report, the SUV ended up on the median after the crash, and the vehicle was heavily damaged afterwards. The driver was seriously injured and taken to a nearby medical facility. It is not yet known how long he will remain in the hospital for treatment.
Colorado police believe that drugs and alcohol could be causal factors in the car accident. The man has been charged with being part of an accident resulting in death. His name will not be released to the public until he is discharged from the hospital. Friends and family of the deceased young boy gathered for a ceremony in remembrance of his life. The surviving family members of the teenager could file a claim against the driver to attempt to find a personal sense of justice and seek financial redress.
