Denver man thanks woman who helped his wife in fatal car accident

On Behalf of | Jan 16, 2014 | Wrongful Death

Recently, a female pedestrian died after being struck by a hit and run driver in Denver. The fatal car accident occurred just after the woman exited her bus on her way to work. According to witnesses, the driver hit the woman and immediately fled the scene.

Now, the woman’s husband has reached out to say thank you to a woman who helped his wife in her final moments. The man says he was completely devastated by the news of his wife’s death. He called the woman who helped her a hero and said that she will always be his friend.

Police have identified and located the vehicle, which allegedly hit the woman. The owner of the vehicle, however, has denied hitting her and denied being in the area where the fatal car accident occurred. Police investigations continue, however, and the process of gathering forensic evidence continues. Following the finalization of the investigation, it will be revealed whether police will charge the man who owns the vehicle in question.

Even if police fail to charge an individual for causing a fatal car accident, that person may still be held accountable in civil court. Depending on the facts of a Denver accident, family members of those who were killed may have strong claims to seek financial compensation against the party deemed responsible. A wrongful death claim can often be a way for surviving family members to gain a sense of justice in the matter. Additionally, just like reaching out to the woman who helped his wife seems to have helped the man’s emotional state in this case, a successfully completed wrongful death claim can help victims gain a sense of emotional closure regarding the loss of a loved one in a fatal accident.
